Like scars upon skin, the life of an object is recorded by the way it is worn. Its history is remembered through each subtle mar. Compelled by the relationships between humans and objects, I examine the rituals that accompany them. Why do we collect what we collect? What motivates the preservation of an object for reasons of sentimentality over usefulness or function? How do objects bring us together, connect us with one another, or connect us to a time gone by? I'm impressed by objects ability to trigger us to remember.

Through the manipulation of objects of everyday life, I explore the bittersweet notions of connectivity, memory, absence, and the grieving process. Whether recreating a moment, mourning a loss, or exorcising an experience, my work serves to establish an emotional connection and allow others space to remember, cherish, and grieve their personal histories through the sculptural personifications of my own.
